The idea in short
FLYP is a place to film and share. The basic rule is simple: post what does not harm other people.
These guidelines apply to everything in the app: clips, captions, comments, sounds, usernames, profile photos, messages, and live streams.
They form part of the Terms of Use.
Violence and threats
Not allowed:
- Threatening to harm a person or a group.
- Calling for violence or celebrating it.
- Graphic or bloody violence posted with no news or educational context.
- Glorifying or promoting violent groups.
Hate and harassment
Not allowed:
- Attacking someone for their religion, race, nationality, gender, disability, or tribe.
- Bullying, repeated unwanted comments, or coordinated pile ons.
- Mocking someone's appearance, voice, or circumstances.
- Creating accounts for the purpose of harassing one particular person.
Criticising an idea or a piece of public work is not harassment. Attacking the person is.
Sexual content and nudity
- Nudity and explicit sexual content are not allowed.
- Promoting sexual services is not allowed.
- Clothing appropriate to a general audience is expected in clips and streams.
Minor safety
This is the most serious section on this page, and there are no intermediate steps.
- Any content that exploits or endangers a child leads to immediate account closure and a report to the authorities.
- Asking a minor for personal details, or contacting one for a suspicious purpose, is not allowed.
- Posting clips of children in situations that expose them to danger or to abusive comments is not allowed.
- The minimum account age is thirteen.
Self harm
- Encouraging suicide, self harm, or eating disorders, or describing methods, is not allowed.
- Talking about your own experience in the context of recovery is allowed, and we may add a notice or support resources alongside it.
- If you see someone in immediate danger, contact the emergency services where you are, then report the content to us.
Dangerous acts and prohibited goods
- Dangerous challenges that could injure someone who copies them are not allowed.
- Selling or promoting drugs, weapons, prescription medicines, and counterfeit goods is not allowed.
- Promoting gambling or financial scams is not allowed.
Spam and fake accounts
- Buying or selling followers, likes, and comments is not allowed.
- Posting the same link repeatedly, or sending unsolicited bulk messages, is not allowed.
- Impersonating a person or an organisation is not allowed. Fan and parody accounts are fine if the name and bio make that clear.
- Using automated software to interact or to scrape the app is not allowed.
Other people's privacy
- Do not publish someone's phone number, address, documents, or account details.
- Do not film people in private places without their knowledge.
- Do not publish a private conversation in order to embarrass someone.
Other people's rights
Do not post work you have no right to. How to report a copyright infringement is on the copyright page.
Extra rules for live
- What goes out live is hard to take back, so violations during a stream are treated more firmly.
- A stream may be ended immediately, with no warning, if the violation is clear.
- You are responsible for what appears in your stream, including what your guests do.
How we enforce this
These guidelines are not a notice pinned to a wall. Three layers enforce them, and they run at the same time:
- Automated screening before anything is published. Content posted publicly — clips and their captions, comments, live stream titles and cover images, display names, bios and profile photos — is checked automatically against these guidelines before it is written. Anything that clearly breaks them is refused there and then and never appears. Private messages are not screened automatically and are never sent to any outside service. The detail is in the privacy policy.
- Your reports. Every report reaches a review queue that a person on the team reads. Content reported by several different people within a short period is hidden automatically and immediately, before anyone on the team has looked at it; the decision is then reviewed and reversed if the reports were not justified.
- Human review. The final decision — removing content, limiting an account, closing it — is made by a person and not by a program, and a person reviews appeals too.
The timeframes we commit to
- We review reports of objectionable content and act on them within 24 hours of receiving them.
- Reports involving a child's safety, or a credible threat to someone's life, go ahead of everything else and are reviewed as fast as we can manage.
- General support replies and appeals against a decision: within two working days.
Automated screening supports human review rather than replacing it, and it is not infallible. Reporting remains the most important route, which is why the report control sits on every surface in the app that carries content from another person.
What happens if you break them
- The content is removed, with a notice explaining why.
- Posting, commenting, or going live is temporarily limited.
- The account is suspended.
- The account is permanently closed.
Severe violations lead straight to closure. You can appeal any action in Settings, then Account status, and a person reviews the appeal, not a program.
How to report
Everywhere another person's content appears, there is a way to report it. These are all of them:
- A clip in the feed: the … button beside the clip, then Report.
- An account: open the profile, then the options button, then Report user.
- A comment: the … button on the comment row, or press and hold the comment, then Report comment.
- A direct message: press and hold the message, then Report this message. To report the whole conversation, use the options button at the top of it.
- A live stream: the options button at the top of the stream, then Report this stream or Report the host.
- A live chat message: tap the line of chat, then Report this comment.
- A general problem: Settings, then Report a problem.
You then pick a reason from a short list, and the surface the report came from is recorded with it. Reports are confidential: the other person is not told who reported them and gets no notification about it.
If you are hosting a live stream, the viewer list gives you three actions on any viewer: report them, hide their comments from your screen, and block them — and blocking genuinely stops them commenting in your stream, for everyone and not just for you.
How to block someone
Blocking cuts everything between you. They cannot see your account or your content, follow you, message you, or comment on your posts, and their earlier comments disappear from your view. They are not told that you blocked them.
Block sits in the same sheet as Report, on nearly every surface:
- A profile: the options button, then Block. This is also the route for the author of a clip you saw in the feed — tap their name to open their profile.
- A comment: the … button or a long press, then Block.
- A direct message: a long press on the message, or the options button at the top of the conversation, then Block.
- A live stream: the options button at the top, then Block the host.
- A live chat message: tap the line, then Block.
- The viewer list, if you are the host: tap a viewer's name, then Block.
For something lighter than a block: Mute hides someone's content from you without telling them, and Restrict makes their comments visible only to them and moves their messages to a separate folder. Both are on their profile, under options. You can see everyone you have blocked, and unblock them, in Settings, Privacy and safety, Blocked users.
Every safety tool is listed with where to find it in the Safety Centre.
Urgent safety matters
After that — or if the matter involves a child's safety, a credible threat, or exploitation — report it inside the app and then write to support@flyp-sa.com with SAFETY at the start of the subject line. Messages carrying that word are read ahead of everything else.
Include enough for us to find the content: the @ handle of the account, a link to the clip or roughly when the stream was on, and a short description of what happened. We preserve reported content in these cases, and we report to the authorities where the situation requires it — see law enforcement requests.
